Mary Shelley
A portrait of Mary Shelley, the author of "Frankenstein" was on display at the Morgan Library & Museum during an exhibit about Frankenstein. The portrait is permanently housed at the National Portrait Gallery.
I would have loved to see this exhibit in person, especially knowing that Mary Shelley was so young when she wrote Frankenstein and that the story has remained so powerful for generations. Seeing her portrait alongside an exhibit about Frankenstein must have made the history behind the book feel much more real. I also love seeing old portraits like this because they give you a chance to put a face to someone whose work has lived far beyond her own lifetime.
