The Vessel

The Vessel is a sculptural structure built as a visitor attraction to the Hudson Yards development in New York City.  It was designed by British designer Thomas Heatherwick in the form of an elaborate honeycomb.  It is 150 feet tall and consists of 154 staircases, 2,500 steps and 80 landings for visitors to climb.

Unfortunately, The Vessel has become the sight of several suicides despite measures to prevent such incidents.  The stairs have been closed so now we can only see it from the outside looking up.

River View

In yesterday's post I had the street between apartments south of the Thames River.  I mentioned that the apartments in the buildings on the river have great views.  Here is the view in 2005 taken from the balcony of the friend's apartment I mentioned.  That London skyline behind Tower Bridge has changed quit a lot in those 20 years.

Shad Thames

The photo above was taken in August of 2025 and the one to left was taken 20 years before that in 2005.

In 2005, I stayed at a friend's apartment on this street of old industrial buildings that have been converted to modern apartments.

I revisited this street on my last trip to London.  Located south of the Thames, many of these apartments have wonderful river and city skyline views.
