Cortona Italy

The city hall in Cortona Italy is decorated for a special ceremony that is about to begin.  We didn't know about the ceremony when we visited here last year, we just stumbled on it and loved every minute of the festivities.  Sometime in the future, I'll post some photos from that event.

Cortona is the city that became famous after Francis Mayes' book was published and later made into the movie "Under The Tuscan Sun".  In addition to that famous book, she has written several other books about Tuscany and her life there.  That fame has made Cortona a very popular place to visit while in Tuscany.

Very lovely. I'll look forward to more photos. I saw those guys dressed in costume on the steps and wondered what was afoot. (Thet thar's the way we all talk here in Florida - afoot!)

I saw the movie, didn't read the book. Diane Lane, right? She was very good!

When we visited several years ago in May they also had a special ceremony there, with flag throwers, etc. i don't remember what the occasion was.

Surprises make often the place more fun.

Cortona is on the list for a future visit. I was at Pienza, one hilltop over, and Montepulciano, among others.
