Encounter with the Queen

On another trip to London, a few years before the events described on yesterday's post, I had an opportunity to actually see Queen Elizabeth.  Unfortunately, you can't see her through the glass of the car in any of my photos.  The Queen was addressing Parliament this day so we made our way to the Sovereign's Entrance to watch for her as she departed.  She even gave us (well, the crowd all around us) a royal wave.

That was a bit of of luck of being in the right place at the right time.

I saw her too on her visit to Lisbon in the 50's. I was just a child but remember her very well waving to the people in one of the gorgeous coaches which are on display at the Coach Museum: http://oeirasdailyphoto.blogspot.pt/search?q=coach+museum

I had not heard your story about seeing the Queen. And you have a photo to prove it.

Sharon, I've just read your comment. That Coach Museum is in Lisbon! :-) Queen Elizabeth used one of those coaches for the royal parade on her visit to Lisbon.

I got dumped once in the ocean by a royal wave while trying to surf. I think your royal wave was much nicer! Love the shot. I wonder if you could get that close and take that shot today? Probably not.

Love that Rolls. It must be nice (sometimes) to be the Queen.

I would guess the two gentlemen on the right are part of the security. Quite exciting to see the Queen pass by.
