Burano
Burano is one of the islands in the Venice lagoon and the interesting thing about this quiet place is all the brightly colored houses. It is said that the fisherman who lived here painted their houses bright colors so they would be easy to recognize when they returned from the sea. I'm not sure that still applies or if it ever did but, the tradition has lived on.
If you are there in the late afternoon as we were, the bright colors will reflected in the canals making interesting photo opportunities.
The colors are incredibly bright and vibrant on every street. It's impossible to put your camera down.

Gorgeous colours and reflections!

Spoiled for photographic choice, and the sky and water set them all off perfectly!
I agree with JM. The colours and the reflection are spectacular.
Spectacular reflections Sharon, love the colours so much.
I remember your shots from Venice. Beautiful. Do you have to be on Google+ to follow this blog?
The colors of Burano make it so visually appealing even though the houses are simple in design, when compared to nearby Venice.
Great reflections; what a wonderful place to visit.
I don't know if I did this correctly, but I think I'm your first follower! But, I show up twice. . go figure!
I love all the color, it adds such vibrancy to the place. What ever the reason for painting this way, it works.
First of all, I love the title of the blog...
And these are wonderful photos with which to begin! What great colors. Reminds me a bit of Boca Raton but in that city the colors have more of a pastel flavor.
These are brilliant. And the reason for the brightly painted houses makes a lot of sense even if it may be partly legendary.
I can see why you couldn't put your camera down. My goodness, what a photographer's delight!
Congrats again. You've got something really good going here!
Wow! As I said yesterday (echoing your sister) this is going to be fun. I had never heard of Burano before. The color is fantastic.
I visited Burano years ago, spectacular, they have so many colors here and the reflections in the water are fantastic.
What great shots, the colors are fantastic! I never got to Burano. Love to see it here through your lens. Love the header.
