Share the road
When you are in Costa Rica, you must learn to share the road with all kinds of interesting critters like this handsome iguana who was lumbering down the road next to me.
People used to eat iguana, but now that is no longer allowed in Costa Rica. A few people still do. I have heard that people in Nicaragua more commonly eat iguana, and that they taste like chicken.
If we saw a lizard that big around here it would surely be a Gila Monster which you would not want to mess with. I was a bit surprised at Dave's comment that people eat them but not surprised that they taste like chicken.

Glad to read Dave's comment about not eating Iguana anymore in Costa Rica. I wonder if they still do it in Mexico...

Doesn't everything strange taste like chicken?
It sounds like the Costa Rican iguanas are less fearful of humans than the ones in Florida. I never could get very close to them.
