Calf Creek Falls

In southern Utah there is a wide area called the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.  Within that area you will find a place called the Calf Creek Recreation Area.  You can camp there right next to a cool, gurgling creek.  But, the real adventure begins when you take the 5 1/2 mile round-trip hike to see the Calf Creek Falls.  I will admit that about half way there you might be wondering if the hike will be worth it but, when the trail opens up to this wonderful oasis, you know it's been well worth the long walk.

I haven't been to this place in many, many years.  I'd love to go back and get some new digital photos.  For today, I had to make do with this twenty year old, scanned photo.

Fantastic! Most of the pics on my travel blog are scanned and I would like to get better shots of every single place too. :-)

That hike might be a bit more strenuous twenty years later. But I must agree, it would be well worth it.

It is a problem that we don't look at and find it difficult to share and post old photos.

That is almost surreal. What a beautiful place to find some respite for the harried mind! Now I see that you've been a photographer of note for many years!

I wonder if there is still water there.
